It has long been known that rudder crevices can significantly disrupt the induced resistance. With our manned colleagues, it is almost unthinkable to fly an aircraft without effective gap masking. The loss of efficiency is too big.
In model aircraft, it is also generally accepted that efficient covering of the rudder gaps brings noticeable advantages.
Even if the influences are significantly lower than with the manned planes, the performance improvement, especially with high-performance gliders, cannot be ignored. Performance-oriented pilots have been doing this for a long time and make their own gap masking tapes. Mostly made of adhesive tape, elaborately secured with flour or other powders against unwanted bonding.
From the passion to get the maximum performance out of our models, we have developed a suitable gap masking tape especially for sports models. It was important to us that it is particularly thin in order not to apply unnecessarily.
Total width: 10mm
Adhesive surface: 5mm
Material thickness: 0.2mm
The chosen dimensions are universal enough to cover all areas of sports model wings and special enough not to press unnecessarily wide masking bands on the rudders. A slight pre-curvature allows the belt to fit optimally and at the same time does not create unnecessary resistance, which the servo have to work against.
A classic development of competition pilots for ambitious model pilots.
